TOM HARRIS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GIVES BACK IN HONOUR OF TOM HARRIS
The 1st Annual Tom Harris Charity Classic tournament took place on the 15th of June and was a success as everyone in attendance had a great time celebrating Tom while raising funds for great causes!
Overall 190 guests turned out and 50 volunteers were present to show their support. The goal for the night was to raise $100,000 for the Tom Harris Community Endowment Foundation. This goal was surpassed and $252,000 was raised. The event was also Nanaimo's biggest golf tournament and fundraiser. These funds will be directed to the community to help with various causes.
The biggest takeaway from this event was the chance to amplify Tom's spirit of giving and encourage people to think of themselves as philanthropists.

On the 5th of September, representatives of local charities and organizations and members of the Nanaimo Foundation gathered to receive donations from the funds raised by the Tom Harris Community Foundation and Nanaimo Foundation.
A total of $72,000 was given away to support seven charities and organizations causes. The recipients of the funds were:
The Griefmobile, The Nanaimo Men's Centre, Crossroads Pregnancy Centre, Central Vancouver Island Multicultural Society, Vancouver Island University Foundation, Gabriola’s community bus service and People for a Healthy Community Gabriola Island.
